• History: The temple was established by Swami Haridas, a 15th-16th century saint and poet, who was one of the greatest devotees of Lord Krishna. The idol of Bankey Bihari appeared in front of Swami Haridas in the Nidhivan forest after he sang a deeply devotional song.

• History: Established by Gopala Bhatta Goswami, one of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan, in 1542. Legend has it that the deity appeared from a shaligram shila (sacred black stone) that Gopala Bhatta worshipped.
